Description
This work was inspired by the song," 52 Vincent Black Lightning" by Richard Thompson, solo artist and original guitar player for the British folk rock group, Fairport Convention. I have always thought the story would make a great film, so in the tradition of the 1950's B movie poster, I imagined the story in that form. I tried to include as many details of the song in the piece as artistically possible. The song is a ballad, about James Adie, and Red Molly. James is a rebel on the wrong side of the Law, when he meets, Red Molly, a red headed young woman who captures his imagination. A Bonnie and Clyde adventure ensues, resulting in James's death. His final act is to give the classic cafe bike to Red Molly to carry on his legacy of rebellion for him.
